Apa itu masa bercocok tanam? Secara umum, masa bercocok tanam merupakan masa dimana insan purba pada masa itu telah melaksanakan aktivitas bercocok tanam dan beternak. Masa ini merupakan masa yang penting bagi perkembangan masyarakat dan peradaban pada masa itu. Beberapa inovasi gres dalam rangka penguasaan sumber alam bertambah cepat. Beberapa macam-macam flora dan binatang mulai dipelihara dan dijinakkan.

Sejarah Masa Bercocok Tanam

Dalam sejarahnya, masa bercocok tanam yang dikembangkan oleh insan atau masyarakat pada masa itu memunculkan ladang-ladang pertanian sederhana.  Pada awalnya, aktivitas bercocok tanam menghasilkan beberapa buah-buahan dan makanan, menyerupai pisang, manggis, ubi, salak, kelapa dan rambutan. Seperti yang kita ketahui, penanaman flora yang berasal dari biji-bijian memerlukan pengetahuan dan pengalaman.

Pengetahuan pada masa bercocok tanam tersebut mulai dikenal perlahan-lahan dikala para pendukung kebudayaan kapak persegi kuat di Kepulauan Nusantara. Perkembangan pertanian pada masa ini memunculkan teknologi irigasi atau sanggup disebut saluran-saluran air. 

Selain bercocok tanam, masyarakat pada masa ini mulai melaksanakan penjinakkan terhadap binatang peliharaan. Hewan yang pertama kali dijinakkan yaitu anjing. Hal ini sebab anjing dipakai sebagai teman dalam berburu dan sebagai penjaga. Selain anjing, mereka juga menjinakkan binatang lain menyerupai ayang, babi dan kerbau.

Berdasarkan peninggalan-peninggalan yang berhasil ditemukan, sanggup disimpulkan bahwa pada masa bercocok tanam kepulauan di Nusantara telah dihuni secara meluas. Penduduk pada masa itu cenderung menempati tempat-tempat terbuka yang bersahabat dengan sumber air. Selain itu, mereka juga menempati daerah yang tinggi menyerupai bukit-bukit yang dikelilingi sungai. Tujuan ditempatinya daerah menyerupai itu yaitu semoga terlinduni dari bahaya musuh atau gangguan dari binatang buas.
