Ciri-ciri sejarah sebagai seni yang pertama yaitu intuisi. Arti intuisi dalam hal ini yaitu seorang sejarawan memerlukan insting dan pemahaman pribadi ketika penelitian sejarah dilakukan. Kemudian dengan intuisi cara kerja sejarawan akan sama dengan seniman, akan tetapi dalam hal penulisan sejarah mereka harus tetap faktual menurut data di lapangan yang berhasil diperoleh.

2. Imajinasi
