Ya, Pulau Buton. Pulau ini terletak di bab tenggara Pulau Sulawesi dan menjadi salah satu kabupaten di Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Di sana, terdapat Kesultanan Buton yang meninggalkan beberapa jejak peradaban. Salah satu jejak peninggalan tersebut contohnya sanggup kita lihat pada rumah adat Sulawesi Tenggara.

Rumah Adat Sulawesi Tenggara

Beribukota di Kendari, provinsi ini terdiri dari 15 kabupaten dan 2 kota, yaitu Kota Bau-Bau dan Kota Kendari. Kabupatennya yaitu Kabupaten Bombana, Buton, Buton Selatan, Buton Tengah, Buton Utara, Kolaka, Kolaka Timur, Kolaka Utara, Konawe, Konawe Kepulauan, Konawe Selatan, Konawe Utara, Muna, Muna Barat dan Wakatobi.

Suku secara umum dikuasai di Sulawesi Tenggara ini yaitu suku Buton. Selain itu terdapat suku-suku lainnya yaitu suku Muna, Tolaki, Morenene dan Wawonii. Suku buton juga dikenal dengan Suku Walio. Suku inilah mewariskan rumah adat Banua Tada yang menjadi Rumah Adat Sulawesi Tenggara.

Rumah Adat Banua Tada

Rumah adat Banua Tana berbentuk rumah panggung dengan material utamanya yaitu kayu tanpa memakai paku. Banua Tada terdiri dari 2 kata, yaitu Banua yang berarti rumah dan Tada yang berarti siku. Secara harfiah, Banua Tada berarti rumah siku.

Berdasarkan peruntukannya, rumah adat Banua Tada terbagi dalam 3 jenis, yaitu Kamali atau malige, yang merupakan rumah atau istana kawasan tinggal raja berserta keluarganya; Banua tada tare pata pale, merupakan rumah siku bertiang empat tenpat tinggal pejabat dan pegawai istana; dan Banua tada tare talu pale, merupakan rumah siku bertiang tiga kawasan tinggal orang biasa.

Sebagai peninggalan kesultanan Buton, rumah adat Kamali atau Malige inilah yang lebih dikenal sebagai Rumah Adat Sulawesi Tenggara. Di Malige sendiri terdapat simbol-simbol dan hiasan yang banyak dipengaruhi oleh konsep dan anutan tasawuf. Simbol dan hiasan tersebut melambangkan nilai-nilai budaya, kearifan lokal dan dongeng dari peradaban kesultanan Buton di masa silam.

Material Rumah

Material utama yang dipakai dalam pembangunan Rumah Adat Sulawesi Tenggara ini yaitu kayu pohon nangka, jati, dan bayem, baik itu untuk tiang, dinding, pasak, tangga dan rangka atap. Selain itu dipakai pula bambu yang telah direndam dalam air laut untuk lantai, serta daun rumbia atau nipa untuk atap rumah.

Konstruksi Rumah

Terdapat beberapa perbedaan pada ketiga jenis Banua Tada. Perbedaan mencolok terlihat pada bangunan Kamali/Malige. Hal ini bertujuan sebagai penanda kebesaran dan keagungan sultan/raja sebagai pemimpin, pengayom dan pelindung rakyat.

Secara umum, konstruksi ketiga jenis Rumah Adat Sulawesi Tenggara ini mempunyai karakteristik yang sanggup mencirikannya. Karakteristik tersebut yaitu sebagai berikut:
  1. Sendi (pondasi) tersusun dari batu-batu sungai atau gunung yang berbentuk pipih tanpa materi perekat lain.
  2. Tiang. Untuk malige, kayu-kayu yang telah diperoleh dibuat segi empat, sedangkan untuk rumah orang biasa, kayu tiang berbentuk bulat. Setiap tiang dilubangi sebagai temapt menyatukan dengan tiang yang lain. Pertama kali dipasang tiang utama/tiang sentra lalu disusul dengan tiang-tiang lainnya.
  3. Dinding. Dinding Rumah Adat Sulawesi Tenggara terbuat dari papan kayu yang disusun di sepanjang rangka dinding.
  4. Lantai. Lantai untuk malige terbuat dari kayu jati. Hal ini melambangkan status sosial sang sultan juga melambangkan bahwa sultan merupakan seorang yang mempunyai kepribadian hening dalam menghadapi banyak sekali persoalan.
  5. Atap. Atap rumah terbuat dari rangka kayu atau bambu denagn rumbia atau nioah sebagai penutupnya.
