2. Prasasti Peninggalan Kerajaan Majapahit

Selain Candi, Prasasti juga merupakan sumber sejarah Kerajaan Majapahit. Kidung ini berisi mengenai keruntuhan Kerajaan Singasari, kemudian berdirinya Kerajaan Majapahit yang dipelopori oleh Raden WIjaya. Sumber sejarah Kerajaan Majapahit dari luar negeri yaitu berasal dari informasi luar berupa catatan-catatan para pedagang, maupun catatan kekerabatan diplomasi dengan kerajaan luar. Seperti yang kita ketahui, Kerajaan Majapahit merupakan kerajaan besar, luasnya hingga ke beberapa wilayah Asia Tenggara (sekarang). Oleh alasannya ialah itu, ada beberapa sumber sejarah kerajaan ini berasal dari luar negeri. Sumber-sumber tersebut mencakup :
  • Catatan dari Dinasti Ming (China) tahun 1268 Masehi. Catatan ini mengungkap adanya kekerabatan diplomasi antara Kekaisaran China dan Kerajaan Majapahit.
  • Catatan dari Dinasti Tang (China) tahun 1292 Masehi. Catatan ini berisi mengenai pengiriman tentara yang dilakukan oleh Kekaisaran China yang bertujuan untuk menghukum raja terakhir dari Kerajaan Singasari yang berjulukan Kertanegara.
